Child Development

Children are the future of any society. They are the most energetic and talented people of their age group; full of energy and enthusiasm. Habits that are inculcated at this age are carried throughout their lives. Therefore, it is utmost essential to channelize their energies in the right direction and at the right time.

  • There are 472 million children in India under the age of 18 years. This constitutes 39% of the total population in the country (Census 2011)
  • There are 10.13 million child labourers between 5-14 years in India
  • 8 million children below age 6 in India are undernourished
  • 42% of married women in India were married as children.

Realizing their potential at this point, DCN organized camps and seminars for the children. DCN also runs free tuition centers for unprivileged children. They come from below the poverty line and their parents are illiterate. Along with helping in their school syllabus, they are taught on health and hygiene and the importance of education.
