Agriculture Development

As per 2018, agriculture employed 50% of the Indian work force and contributed 17-18% to the country’s GDP.

Despite being the largest employer of the population the development in the sector is slow and often faces various problems related to Infrastructure (road, supply chain, irrigation system), Productivity, Farmer suicides (Farmer suicides account for 11.2% of all suicides in India) and various other issues.

Agriculture development means providing assistance to the crop producers with the help of various agricultural resources. Providing protection, assisting in the research sphere, employing latest techniques, controlling pests etc. Discipleship Care Network (DCN), has helped many people in agriculture development.

DCN encourages growing vegetables in the house to be self-sufficient with the help of natural fertilisers. This not only helps the family to be self-sufficient but also the quality of the vegetables grown is good as no chemicals are used in the process.

Further, DCN also provides training for other means of livelihood like animal husbandry to farmers so they are not solely dependent on the farming. This is an initiative towards curbing the high rates of suicide among the farmers.
